Twenty-one indie, folky, jazzy, soulful, tunes with some quiet contemplation to close.
I dare you to listen to this playlist twice in a row and not fall in love with every single track. All of these songs were released by Manitoba musicians in 2025. I discovered them during my yearly deep dive into locally created music curated by Manitoba Music, our not-for-profit music industry association.
This is the second of three MB 2025 “mixtapes” I put together over the holidays. This one is mellow and intimate, lyrical to start and a little experimental towards the end. Lots of new names for me, with a few of my longtime favourite local artists (Jess Rae, Begonia, Jocelyn Gould, & Slow Leaves).
The stand-out discovery from this group was Leith Ross’s new album I Can See The Future. Leith recently moved from Ontario to Winnipeg to join the Manitoba indie/folk scene. This February to May they will be touring the UK, Europe, and Canada to promote the album.
And now here are twenty-one of my favourite Manitoban indie, folky, soulful, or jazzy tracks of 2025. Listen here or in the embedded players below:
